New Zealand Delphinium Plants For Sale
The New Zealand delphiniums, from breeder Terry Dowdswell's New Millenium Series, are D. elatum types, the tall majestic English Delphinium Hybrid. They are generally regarded as far superior to 'Pacific Giants' and other commercially available delphinium seed types.
Previously trialled at the RHS Garden in Wisley they performed well and Delphinium 'Sweethearts' was awarded the coveted Award of Garden Merit, AGM.
AGM indicates the plant has gained the Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit. AGM is given to plants, after trial, that have shown outstanding excellence for garden decoration and can be easily grown by the amateur gardener.
We have found the New Zealand varieties to be very hardy, strong stemmed delphiniums, with magnificent flowers. The delphiniums have excellent form and colour and we have found them to grow very well in the UK, even on our heavy clay soil! As with all seed raised plants there may be some small variation in colour but we have found them to be generally true to type. Limited availability on some varieties.
