Delphinium Information
The Delphinium is a member of the Ranuculaceae family which contains around 250 species of annual, biennial or perennial delphiniums. They occur naturally in the mountainous regions of the world and are grown for their spikes or racemes of cup shaped flowers. The flowers often have spurs and can be single or double flowered and can come in a range of colours but are most prized for their range of blues. The leaves are palmate and toothed and the roots are fibrous or fleshy. A fully hardy plant which is widely grown for: mixed borders, rockeries, shows and flower arrangement.
At Larkspur Nursery we concentrate on growing the Delphinium belladonna and elatum cultivars which are large perennial plants and give a stunning display of flowers during May, June and July once established.
