Runner Bean Painted Lady This is an old variety but still one of the best flavoured varieties available. Featuring attractive red and white flowers making it a good decorative plant in the garden. Beetroot Cylindra As the name suggests, a long, slim, cylindrical shaped beetroot, with a dark red colour to both the outer smooth skin and the inner sweet tasting flesh. The long shape makes this an ideal variety for slicing. Matures medium early. A range of uses and becoming increasingly popular as a ‘mini-veg’. Suitable for container growing. Broad Bean Medes AGM A medium height neat and compact variety which produces a heavy yield of medium sized pods with 5-6 white beans. This broad bean has an excellent flavour and has been given an Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society which signifies that it is a good reliable plant for the amateur gardener. Cabbage F1 Advantage A good flavoured pointed cabbage which is a great all rounder being suitable for cutting in spring, summer and autumn. This is also a good variety for growing under cover. Early sowings from Feb-July for harvest from June-November, as well as autumn sowing for spring harvest.

Cardoon (Cynara cardunculus) This is a perennial which is also lovely as an architectural plant in large herbaceous borders owing to its grey spikey foliage and purple thistle heads and will provide interest in any garden. Similar to Globe Artichokes, Cardoon is also grown for the edible stalks and midribs: blanch stems in late summer using paper and secure with elastic bands and harvest 8-10 weeks later. Sow March-April at 18-30°C into seed modules or small pots.

Carrot F1 Heracles This is a very early first early Nantes type carrot so you can harvest before a main crop from late June to August. A good sized carrot with uniform roots averaging 18cm long. It has a dark orange colouring, smooth roots with a good flavour and best of all is resistant to bolting with a good tolerance of cavity spot and scab. Sow direct from early March. Cloches may be placed where the drills are to be to warm the soil; leave the cloches in position until the seeds have germinated. Germinates between 8-30°C.
