Additional Seed Sowing Information
A Note on Cress
Place the growing medium (compost, cotton wool, kitchen roll, flannel or pieces of sacking) in a small seed tray or similar container. Spread the seeds thickly and evenly on top and press down lightly, do not cover with soil. Water with lukewarm water and cover the tray with brown paper or black polythene. Place the tray on a window sill or in a greenhouse with a temperature of 7°C. When the seeds have germinated, remove the cover from the tray and keep the growing medium moist. Ready for cutting in 11-14 days.
A Note on Sprouting Seeds
Can be sown in a purpose made seed sprouter, in a jar with a muslin top or in some cases a punnet. Keep the seeds moist and clean by rinsing them well twice a day and maintain a temperature of between 13-21°C. Seeds grown in the dark tend to be crisper. Sprouts are ready to harvest after approximately 6 days and clean dry sprouts should store in a refrigerator for up to 1 week.
